Sadaqah Jariyah, reward that never stops

The Prophet ﷺ said: when a person dies, all their deeds end except three, and one is ongoing charity. Sponsor a brick, a teacher's salary, or a Hifz student, and your reward continues for as long as that benefit flows.

When a person dies, his deeds come to an end except for three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for him.

— Sahih Muslim 1631

About Sadaqah Jariyah

Everything you need to know before you give.

What is it?

Sadaqah Jariyah is charity that keeps earning reward after you give it. The classic examples: building a mosque or madrasa, planting a tree, providing water, teaching beneficial knowledge, supporting an orphan.

Every prayer offered, every Qur'an verse memorised, every glass of clean water drunk, for as long as your gift produces benefit, your record continues to fill.

Who pays it?

Any Muslim looking to leave a legacy. Particularly powerful when given on behalf of a deceased parent or loved one, the reward reaches them while yours is preserved.

When is it due?

Any time. Jariyah projects often launch around major milestones (a building project, a Hifz cohort) so check the active campaigns below.

How much?

Set by the project. Sponsor a brick from £25, a window from £150, a whole classroom from £5,000. Or sponsor a Hifz student from £45/month for the three-year programme.

How your gift is distributed

Every Jariyah donation is tagged to a specific long-lived benefit so the reward keeps flowing.

  • Bricks & rooms, used for memorial classroom plaques in our new building.
  • Hifz sponsorship, a single named student's three-year programme.
  • Teacher year, one full year of an instructor's salary, dedicated in your or a loved one's name.

How we deliver

Larger Jariyah gifts come with a digital dedication certificate, naming the donor and (if specified) the deceased relative the gift is on behalf of. Building sponsorships are recorded in the room's permanent plaque register.

Your impact

Where your gift lands

Every classroom you help build will host children memorising Qur'an for decades. Every teacher you sponsor trains the next generation of imams and counsellors. The reward keeps flowing, long after you've moved on.

Frequently asked questions

Can I dedicate a Sadaqah Jariyah to a deceased loved one?

Yes, and many supporters do. The reward reaches them and yours is preserved. We send a dedication certificate by email after the gift is processed.

What counts as Sadaqah Jariyah?

Anything that keeps producing benefit: buildings, wells, books, scholarships, planted trees. The hadith in Sahih Muslim mentions three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, and a righteous child who supplicates for the parent.

How is the reward calculated?

Allah knows best. The classical understanding is that you receive reward proportional to the ongoing benefit produced, so the longer it lasts and the more people benefit, the greater the cumulative reward.

For one-off charity, see Sadaqah. For monthly giving, see Monthly giving.
