Nazifa English, bridge to scholarship
Nazifa English is our intermediate-level English-language programme designed for madrasa students who are ready to move beyond conversational English and start engaging with academic, journalistic, and Islamic-scholarly texts in their second language.
The course runs for twelve weeks, with two 90-minute sessions per week, in person at the Monuhorpur campus. Maximum class size is 16 students.
What you'll cover
- Academic vocabulary across history, science, and Islamic studies
- Reading comprehension, primary sources and secondary commentary
- Essay writing, five-paragraph and longer-form analytical structures
- Public speaking, short talks, structured Q&A, and respectful debate
- Translating Bengali religious texts into clear, accurate English
Who this course is for
Students who have completed our beginner-level English programme, or who can read a basic English newspaper article and write a short paragraph without help. The course is taught primarily in English, with Bengali used for clarification.
What you'll come away with
By the end of the twelve weeks you should be able to read an English-language Hadith commentary, take notes in English from a lecture in Bengali, and write a one-page reflection on a religious or historical topic without translation help.
